Attached is the link to our Regime Classification Exercise. It utilises Google documents to ask a series of questions, the answers then produce a result which are super-imposed on a colour-coded map of your results. This visual demonstration allows one to easily compare countries within a region. The exercise also features both questions on democracy/authoritarianism and freedom of expression in order to draw inferences from any correlations. All the details are explained within the Google document

Good visualization! Though you probably want something more like a scatter plot, to visualize the correlation between the two dimensions at a glance.
ReplyDeleteI think the question you are trying to ask is a bit different. Perhaps more "how do competitive elections relate to freedom of speech" - otherwise you would assume the existence of freedom of speech in some of the democracy questions.
Some of the grouping is a bit unclear. E.g., why is the selectorate/winning coalition question grouped with the "freedom of speech" questions? Shouldn't the freedom of speech questions be more clearly focused on freedom of speech (and less on, for example, separation of powers?)
It was good to put notes and examples for each of the questions posed, it was very helpful in understanding exactly what the questions were supposed to answer.
